Bioinformatics Institute is a non-governmental Bioinformatics research and educational institution. The purpose of educational programs is to acquaint students with the main objectives and methods of bioinformatics and with open problems related to this science.
Every year, Bioinformatics Institute's students work on real research projects. Everything's is remote in the majority of cases. This is a call for such projects: a chance for students to learn and practice real-life applications of their knowledge, and for project supervisors – to develop parts of their projects further or even to mentor a talented future member of their team!
To submit a project, please fill out this form in English. You can submit one or several projects. Please see some examples of rescent projects.
The work with the students will begin in February and will end by 20–25th of May. We have also introduced an interview option. If you want to personally get to know the applicants and choose them for the project yourself, please indicate it in the respective field of this form.
The project must be:
As a supervisor, you will need to meet regularly with your students. We anticipate it will take around 1-3 hours weekly. Additionally, it is supposed that a student approximately 10 hours a week independently.
About 60 students are studying in the bioinformatics program now: biologists, doctors and veterinarians.
During the Fall term, students have successfully mastered basic programming in Python and R, Linux & command line for bioinformatics, solving simple bioinformatics tasks (for example, SNP calling, assembly and annotation of bacterial genomes).
We will send you the information about the project's presentation and selection process via e-mail later.
Thank you for your cooperations and supporting bioinformatics education! We highly appreciate your contribution.
